CROCKER HIGHLANDS

CROCKER HIGHLANDS

“Crocker Highlands...overflows with an abundance of character and charm, described as having ‘the genteel ambiance of an old Hollywood movie set.’” (Wikipedia)

Crocker Highlands is a residential neighborhood located east of the Lakeshore neighborhood, south of Piedmont, northeast of Trestle Glen, and west of Glenview. It is part of the larger area collectively known as the "Lower Hills" found between the I-580 and 13 freeways. It is an 11 minute drive to 19th Street BART, a nine minute drive to Lake Merritt, six minutes from the shops and restaurants of the Montclair neighborhood, and a five minute drive to the Grand Lake Theater.

The Crocker Highlands neighborhood is known for its gently curvy and hilly streets and large, stately single-family homes of varying architecture. Crocker Highlands “offers elegant examples of Tudor, Spanish, Arts and Crafts, Beaux Arts, and Art Deco period homes dating back to the 1920s.” (Compass)

The main street that runs through Crocker Highlands is Mandala Blvd, which turns into Crocker Ave. Lakeshore Ave is a four minute drive away and is a bustling, vibrant area filled with shops and restaurants, including: Arizmendi Bakery, Starbucks, Trader Joe’s, Peet’s Coffee, The Gap, Shakewell Spanish tapas, Colonial Donuts, Verizon, Wells Fargo and more. The Grand Lake - Oakland Farmers Market, which takes place every Saturday from 9am to 2pm at Lake Park Ave and Grand Ave is a five minute drive away.

Crocker Highlands Elementary School is located in the neighborhood, and the nearest middle school is Edna Brewer Middle School. The Transbay bus (on Lakeshore) and casual carpool (pickup on Park Blvd.) are both great commute options into San Francisco. I-580 is just minutes away, and the closest BART station is 19th Street BART, which is an eleven minute drive away.

The Crocker Highlands neighborhood, with its beautiful homes and tree-lined streets, proximity to shops and restaurants, and central location, make it a very desirable area to reside within the city of Oakland.
