Glenview

The Glenview neighborhood can be found in the Oakland foothills, east of the Trestle Glen and Crocker Highlands neighborhoods, south of Montclair, west of Dimond, and north of the I-580 freeway. It is a 13 minute drive to Lake Merritt, 10 minutes to downtown Oakland, and 9 minutes to Redwood Regional Park.

Glenview is a mostly residential neighborhood, with a Park Blvd. being the main thoroughfare and business center. The Glenview neighborhood is deemed “very walkable” ​ by walkscore.com.

The diverse choices of restuarants on Park Blvd in the Glenview neighborhood include Banana Blossom Thai, Bellanico Restuarant and Wine Bar, brunch favorite Blackberry Bistro, Diggery Inn, Sushi Park, Paulista Brazilian Kitchen and Taproom, and Park Burger.

You’ll also find shops services and shops along Park Blvd such as dry cleaners, nail salons, postal services, and flowers. East Bay Dance Center is a popular spot in the neighborhood, proving dance classes, camps, and after school opportunities for kids.

Just west of the official border of Glenview is Dimond Canyon/Dimond Park. Here you will find a recreational pool, picnic tables, BBQ grills, and tennis courts (Reserve your BBQs and picnic tables in advance). Walk along Sausal Creek and enjoy the recent restoration of native plants.

If you drive north up Park Blvd, in six or so minutes you’ll find yourself in Monclair Village, a small, quaint neighborhood with eateries and shops. The vibrand Lakeshore/Grand Lake area of Oakland is eight minutes by car. Hiking and outdoor activities await you at Joaquin Miller Park - a 500-acre park with oak and redwood groves - a five minute drive away.

Glenview is filled with Craftsman and bungalow style homes mostly built in the 1920s. There are some multi-unit properties in the area, mostly along Park Blvd. The neighborhood has a tight-knit, strong community feel. Because it is so walkable, the area feels ​ both urban and suburban.

The Transbay V bus picks up at Park Blvd and Emerson and will get you to San Francisco. There is also a casual carpool pickup in the same area. The I-580 is just a minute or two away.

The Glenview neighborhood is a very desirable place to reside within the city of Oakland; with it’s shops, restaurants, access to outdoor activities, quaint homes, and easy commute options, it is easy to see why.
